The TF-generation BT-50 moved to the Isuzu-sourced 1.9L 4JJ3 engine shared with the D-Max, a genuinely different platform to the earlier Ford-based BT-50s, so it doesn’t compare directly to older BT-50 or Ranger models. On a stock TF we’ve tow-tuned a vehicle from 141.1HP/357Nm at the wheels to 180.7HP/471Nm, with the calibration built around real towing conditions rather than a peak power number that doesn’t hold up on the road.

The TF runs its own Aisin 6-speed automatic, shared with the D-Max. A great candidate for transmission tuning as these transmission are renowned for hunting through gears and insufficient torque converter lock up earlier in the rev range. Transmission tuning fixes all this, keeps it in gear and the converter locked whilst making sure the heat stays away from the transmission and the torque from the engine makes its way to the wheels efficiently.
