Incorrect oil pump alignment is one of the easiest mistakes to mak,e and easily so, the original vane pump and the HOA upgraded oil pump both dont have locating dowel pins to locate the pump to align the front face of the sprocket so the chain driving the sprocket runs true. This tool sits up against the front face of the original vane pump before removing, giving you the required datum point for the HOA upgraded gear oil pump to sit against during installation, ensuring the sprocket and chain are in correct alignment.
